There are few things worse in MRI than discovering that during the exam, the patient is unable to hold the breath. The effects can vary from poor image quality and rescans, all the way to potential recalls. BioMatrix Sensors utilize seamlessly integrated sensors to acquire and display the patient’s respiration data automatically. Then, the optimal exam strategy, e.g. with full free-breathing Compressed Sensing GRASP-VIBE1, can be selected.
BioMatrix Sensors capture physiological characteristics of the patient and allow users to anticipate challenging situations before they arise. The new ultra-high density BioMatrix spine coils utilize seamlessly integrated respiratory sensors to acquire and display the patient’s respiration data without any user interaction. Knowing a patient's breath-hold capability enables the user to choose the right exam strategy.

In MRI, patient anatomy has specific physical consequences such as the distortion of the field homogeneity, leading to insufficient image quality. In particular, this impacts the head-neck/spine area, where robust quality imaging is a huge challenge, especially for larger patients or those with kyphosis. BioMatrix Tuners automatically adjust scan parameters to compensate for challenging patient anatomies.
BioMatrix Tuners encompass CoilShim technology and SliceAdjust to adapt to challenging anatomical regions: driving robustness and reproducible high-quality imaging for all patients.
Integrated into the new BioMatrix Head/Neck coils, CoilShim technology helps to avoid repeat scans due to significantly improved fat saturation and better DWI quality in the head/neck region. The CoilShim technology ensures that the challenging head/neck region is automatically and optimally shimmed for reproducible quality in every patient.
SliceAdjust technology provides reliable and distortion-free whole-body DWI scans. The result: No broken spine artifacts for excellent correlation with anatomical scans.

Patients come in different shapes and sizes – this variability, be it weight, height or mobility can strongly impact the workflow of an MRI exam. Patient transport and positioning can be especially challenging. Additionally, user experience can vary. No matter how tall, big, or mobile a patient is – or how experienced the technologist is – BioMatrix Interfaces accelerate the workflow in order to increase quality and improve cost-effectiveness.
BioMatrix Interfaces simplify how the user interacts with the scanner. With one-touch positioning using the Select&GO screen and the underlying BioMatrix Body Model, positioning can be performed 30%2 faster and delays due to incorrect positioning can be avoided. Simply select the region or organ to be scanned for reliable patient positioning without the need of detailed anatomical knowledge.
With the new BioMatrix dockable table, the optional eDrive support provides motorized assistance so that even the heaviest patient can be effortlessly moved to and from the scanner. All the user has to do is to guide it to its destination. This makes patient transportation easy for any kind of user and any kind of patient.
